About the Program

Our Home Is Where The Food Is program was designed to bring the Angels for the Elderly family together through friends, fellowship and delicious food. Every month, residents are invited to submit their favorite recipes to share with the community. Our chefs then include the selected recipes on the seasonal dining menu that month!

October Recipes

Angels’ residents certainly loved this month’s recipes!

With cooler temperatures and the fair in town, it’s finally beginning to feel a little bit like fall. Louise’s soup recipe hit the spot and was a nice change from our usual “meat and three” lunch menu. Dessert plates were licked clean thanks to her yummy chocolate layer dessert. August Recipes 

This month’s menu features a favorite recipe from each of Angels’ four seperate houses. Residents and their special guests ate “family style” in the Mullins house.

Residents loved the variety of tastes and textures in this month’s meal. France’s layered salad featured chopped tomatoes, boiled eggs, sweet pickle relish and bacon bits – looking exceptionally appealing in a large trifle bowl. Other recipes included delicious Coca-Cola chicken and corn casserole. The residents especially loved the cool and creamy no-bake peanut butter pies which they made the morning of the luncheon.

July Recipes

For July, residents wanted a “down home” traditional meal that might be served at family gatherings, such as a weekend at the lake.

Delicious camp stew with cornbread and fresh peach cobbler for dessert are sure to please! Residents helped decorate tables with red checked cloths and fun DIY centerpieces. Residents and guests even used Mason jars for their sweet tea and homemade lemonade. Once again, this month’s family favorite recipes proved to be “the best meal yet” according to many residents.
